Blog Introduction

Dear Readers,

I have started this blog with the purpose of documenting my experience working with Cydcor as a personal reminder of what I went through to get to where I finally end up, and to try and inform curious others about what really goes on in this somewhat mysterious organization.

Cydcor is a company that, as far as I know, organizes subsidiary groups of Sales & Marketing companies who perform out-sourced work for major corporations seeking to infiltrate a large (nation/continent-wide) marketplace without having to manage their own work force. The field work for these subsidiaries is usually either door-to-door or business-to-business (B2B) sales work, with compensation coming solely in the form of commissions earned by getting customers to sign-up for the product/service being offered.

Getting started with these companies is often viewed suspiciously due to several factors including;
  • Being asked to sign yourself off as an independent contractor
  • No salary, benefits, or usual job securities; and an expected 3+ weeks before earning what will be 100% commission based
  • Apparent lack of qualifications needed to join
  • Constant talk of promotions and expansion for everyone, implanting fears of a pyramid-type scheme

My searches for reviews/anecdotes about working in such jobs has brought a mixture of disgruntled opinions, interspersed with only occasional positive affirmative messages of success. This naturally breeds suspicion, so I hope this diary of sorts will shed some light on the issue, for better or for worse.

I promise you to be honest and truthful in my recollection of what I go through from the moment I found the first job advertisement until the present. I will reveal my actual impressions and opinions of the place and the people as I go along so you can follow my experience. I will neither reveal the names of the subsidiary companies, people I work with, nor anything about myself except that I picked up this gig in Canada.

My intention is to do this day by day to keep my reflections free from retrospective analysis. Admittedly I am starting a little behind, so I will do my best to accurately reflect my impressions of the early experiences.

At the time of creating this blog and writing the "Blog Introduction" I have just completed the experiences outlined in the "First Day of Training" episode.

-Kind Regards-
